Maintenance Technician (in Greater Indianapolis, IN)
A national food production/packaging facility in Greater Indianapolis is seeking a Maintenance Technician, working Monday through Friday. This professional will work hand in hand with an experienced Plant Manager. All employees have their core responsibilities they’ve been hired for, but will need to be a team player in case they’re needed to help out a colleague.
Primary Duties:
- This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
- Perform and coordinate maintenance on all production, warehouse, and plant equipment.
- Assist the plant manager in completing any production, warehouse, and plant duties.
- Implement a preventative maintenance program
Education/Experience Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a food or beverage processing & packaging setting
Skills and job functions:
- Maintenance on food production, warehouse, and all plant equipment, including:
o Vertical & horizontal FF&S
o Stand-up bagger/ pre-made pouches
o Volumetric cup fillers
o Bulk material handling (bucket elevators, belt conveyors, feeders, diverter valves, storage bins,
screening, pneumatic conveying)
o X-Ray (bulk and end-of-line)
o Pallet trucks/jacks/lifts
o Knowledge of plant utility, including air handling/ compressors, water, and electric
o Stick pack
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley Contrologix PLC systems preferred
- Maintenance of automation systems, including:
o Robotic palletizing
o Conveying
o Case packing
o Pick and place
- Strong ability to communicate with co-workers and upper management
- Comply with and enforce all company food safety/quality requirements (GMP, SQF, HACCP).
- Strong core computer skills, ability to utilize PM program software, and learn SAP Business One
- Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) computer skills preferred
Salary and Benefits
- Salary commensurate with experience (hourly paid, up to $36-$37/hr; paid OT on F’s)
- Group Health Insurance after 90 days
- 401K with 4% employer match after 1 year, Bonus paid in April, and a sign-on bonus after 90 days of employment
